When large drug manufacturers began restricting 340B drug discounts for contract pharmacies in 2020, Coastal Bend Wellness Foundation (CBWF) decided to pivot from a co-located pharmacy to entity owned. By doing so, the Community Health Center, which provides services to several rural counties in south Texas, would avoid the restrictions placed on contract pharmacies and continue to benefit from the 340B program.

Review of 340B ESP (Second Sight Solutions) Model

340B ESP is also referred to as the Second Sight Solutions model since Second Sight is the company that owns 340B ESP. Twelve (12) of the eighteen (18) manufacturers who are restricting pricing in the contract pharmacy area participate in 340B ESP. In order to access 340B pricing for these manufacturers, you will need to send your pharmacy claims data up to 340B ESP twice a month, and from there, they will load your pricing for your contract pharmacy.
