340B INDUSTRY LEADER SPOTLIGHT

Ben Kelly, RPh, MBA, VP of Pharmacy Operations, Maxor Pharmacy Management

Ben Kelly

Q: Where did you grow up?

I grew up in Winter Garden, FL just outside of Orlando where I still reside. My kids go to the same high school my wife and I attended.

Q: Where did you go to college/graduate school?

I received my pharmacy degree from the University of Georgia. My MBA was through Crummer School of Business at Rollins College.

Q: What are your favorites?

Food: My wife is a baker so most anything she makes is an immediate favorite.

Movie: People Will Talk

Musicians: I was born in the wrong era for music. I graduated in the 90’s but have always been a fan of late seventies music such as the Eagles and the Steve Miller band.

Destination: Captiva, FL

Q: What do you like to do outside of work?

Family time and the outdoors. I’ve been able to combine the two. We spent a lot of time when my family was younger visiting the majority of Florida state parks, and my family and I have been exploring the national parks for the past several years.

Q: What kind of work does your company do in 340B and what makes it stand out?

Maxor is an A-Z provider in the 340B space, which is very unique. Our team can support TPA, Referral capture, Mixed Use, Consulting and Pharmacy Management. The services can be bundled or our clients just access what is needed.

Q: Why did you choose to work in the 340B space?

The mission-oriented focus of 340B entities really makes the work meaningful. We get to work closely with safety net entities to develop programs that serve some of our country’s most vulnerable patients in a way where we can continue to provide services year after year.

Q: What do you feel is your most significant contribution to the 340B world or to a 340B customer/client?

I’m most proud of the way my team and I have truly partnered with our clients with their on-site pharmacies versus a vendor relationship. We’ve been side-by-side with them through HRSA audits, industry changes, specialty accreditation and patient care. I’m glad we could shoulder the work and also feel ownership in the results.

Q: What advice do you have for a young professional who has recently launched a career in the 340B space?

Operate with integrity. As big as the 340B space is, it’s a very small world and your reputation will drive your success in the long run.
