Amber Mitchell

Q: Where did you grow up?

I grew up in Cocoa Beach, Florida. The Kennedy Space Center was only miles from my home. This allowed me the luxury of watching space launches by simply walking outside.

Q: Where did you go to college?

The University of Cincinnati

Q: What are your favorites?

Food: Seafood! I love all kinds and the variety of dishes that can be made.

Movie: Action-Adventure movies are my favorite. Raiders of the Lost Ark is a good one.

Musicians: Impossible to narrow this down, I am a fan of music from all genres.

Destination: The Caribbean. Give me sun, sea and sand any day.

Q: What do you like to do outside of work?

Spend time with family and friends and travel. I value and cherish the relationships that I have with others. Traveling gives me the opportunity to learn about other cultures and visit new destinations. Traveling with family and friends is my ideal pastime.

Q: What kind of work does your company do in 340B and what makes it stand out?

The Craneware Group is a leader in the 340B space. The company employs professionals from many different backgrounds who come together with a main goal of providing excellent partnership and support around the management of a compliant and successful 340B program. And as part of The Craneware Group, we can offer a full suite of pharmacy and hospital solutions — 340B management but also revenue integrity, cost management, and margin and operational insight tools — that proactively address the needs of our customers.

Q: Why did you choose to work in the 340B space?

My background is in hospital and retail pharmacy, as well as education. I have a strong desire to educate and to share information. As I ventured out of the hospital/retail setting, I took a couple different paths that led me to Sentry Data Systems, now The Craneware Group. Once I became versed on the intent and complexity of the program, I was hooked. The ever-changing landscape of the 340B program keeps the profession interesting!

Q: What do you feel is your most significant contribution to the 340B world or to a 340B customer/client?

Sharing the knowledge that I have acquired over the years and the ability to understand the customer’s many different needs and perspectives around the program.

Q: What advice do you have for a young professional who has recently launched a career in the 340B space?

Take the time to learn and understand the 340B program. The program is complex and so important to covered entities. There are many different professional roles within the 340B space. The more knowledge you have, the better opportunities you will have to position yourself in a role that best fits you.
