340B Market News: Avita Acquires PrEP-by-Telehealth Provider Q Care Plus

Avita, a leading provider of 340B contract pharmacy and third-party administration services geared toward HIV and LGBTQ+ communities, has acquired Q Care Plus, a business that helps patients access HIV pre-exposure prophylaxis (PrEP) medication by telehealth.

PMQ Investors LLC, Avita’s parent company, announced the acquisition Jan. 9. The terms of the transaction were not disclosed. Avita also renamed itself Avita Care Solutions with the new brand encompassing Q Care Plus, Avita Pharmacy, the company’s pharmacy services branch, and AvitaCare Atlanta, the organization’s Atlanta medical and primary care center and pharmacy formerly owned by AbsoluteCare. Avita acquired the Atlanta business in October.

“By providing integrated access to pharmacy services, 340B program administration, clinical care delivery, and now digital health options, Avita increases patients’ and covered entity partners’ ability to obtain culturally competent LGBTQ+, HIV, PrEP, and sexual wellness care,” Avita said in a news release.

Avita CEO Michael Yount said the Q Care Plus acquisition and its integration with Avita’s other services “allows our covered entity partners to consistently access a comprehensive selection of health care services and empowers patients to obtain specialized care when and where they want it.”

Avita’s moves are part of a series of business purchases nationally in the 340B sector. Avita is a 340B Report sponsor.
