In Hurricane Ida’s Wake, HRSA Announces 340B Registration Flexibility in Louisiana and Mississippi

Louisiana and Mississippi health care providers eligible to participate in the 340B program may enroll immediately rather than having to wait until the next quarterly registration period Oct. 1 through 15, the U.S. Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA) announced yesterday.

U.S. Health and Human Services (HHS) Secretary Xavier Becerra on Aug. 30 declared a public health emergency in both states as a result of Hurricane Ida.

“We recognize that circumstances surrounding disaster relief efforts warrant flexibility for entities eligible for participation in the 340B Program,” HRSA said on Sept. 1 in a notice on its website’s homepage. Eligible providers in both states may enroll in 340B immediately for the duration of the emergency, HRSA said.

“We believe this will enable these entities to meet the needs of the residents affected by this disaster,” HRSA said.
