HRSA has reconfirmed that it is auditing 340B covered entities for program compliance both remotely and in-person this fiscal year.

For the First Time Since Pandemic, Some 340B Providers Are Being Audited in Person

The U.S. Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA) has reconfirmed that it is auditing 340B covered entities for program compliance both remotely and in-person this fiscal year.

HRSA told 340B Report in mid-September that in October it would resume some onsite audits for the first time since the COVID-19 national emergency was declared in March 2020. HRSA updated its 340B COVID-19 Resources webpage earlier this month to reflect the resumption of in-person audits.

“HRSA will continue to monitor and assess the COVID-19 pandemic impact on the covered entities and provide updates accordingly,” the update says. “If a covered entity has specific questions regarding an audit once it has been engaged, please contact the Bizzell Group (the 340B audit contractor) at 340baudit@thebizzellgroup.com who will coordinate with HRSA based on the specifics of the request.”

According to the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), the seven-day-average daily count of new COVID-19 cases is less than half of its peak so far this year, set in early September. But it began climbing again in late October.
