Q: Where did you grow up?
I grew up in Argyle, NY, a small rural community in upstate New York. When I say small, picture the graduating class being 39 students! And the cows outnumber the people by a large margin.
Q: Where did you go to college/graduate school?
Albany College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences
Q: What are your favorites?
Food: Anything that came out of salt water. And coming from a farming community, I can’t pass up a good filet.
Movie: Being a baseball purist I’d have to say Field of Dreams. And when surfing the television, I can never pass on The Shawshank Redemption.
Musicians: My genres change all the time. Currently I’d have to go with Zach Bryan, Chris Stapleton, and who doesn’t love a little AC/DC every now and then.
Destination: Cape Cod, especially hanging with the locals—great hard-working people who love to have fun!
Q: What do you like to do outside of work?
Attending any of my three daughter’s school events is a passion and I try not to miss them. I’m also a New York Mets and Chicago Bears fan. In the summer, I spend as much time outside as I can.
Q: What kind of work does your company do in 340B and what makes it stand out?
Pillr Health was formed through the merger of three great companies earlier this year—Rx Strategies, Hudson Headwaters 340B, and RPH Innovations. We provide traditional 340B TPA services and comprehensive 340B program management, supporting covered entities (large and small) with a wide variety of services that can be tailored to fit the unique needs of each client. What makes Pillr Health stand out is our ability to meet these unique requirements and optimize each client’s program, leaning on a team of experts that have some of the longest tenure in the industry.
Q: Why did you choose to work in the 340B space?
Like most of us I fell into it, however, I have developed a deep appreciation for the program’s core mission of advancing access to healthcare and supporting community health. Our industry is a tight-knit group of professionals, and developing relationships with colleagues, clients, and other service providers keeps me coming back for more every day!
Q: What do you feel is your most significant contribution to the 340B world or to a 340B customer/client?
Years ago, I was fortunate enough to help develop a 340B program from the ground up in the contract pharmacy setting. More recently, we have made a significant impact for our client’s programs by building out an in-house referral capture team to successfully assist clients with maximizing this component of their business. These both have been rewarding experiences.
Q: What advice do you have for a young professional who has recently launched a legal career in the 340B space?
My advice is to take one bite of the apple at a time. The 340B program can at times feel extremely complex, so taking one subject at a time will help you along the way. Also, don’t forget the importance of mentorship—find yourself a mentor you can learn from, and don’t forget to pay it back by becoming a mentor for others!
