The recertification period for hospitals to continue to participate in the 340B program begins in mid-August. The U.S. Health Resources Services Administration (HRSA) has scheduled an informational webinar on Wednesday, Aug. 11 at 1 p.m. Eastern time to discuss the process.
Recertification for hospitals begins on Monday, Aug. 16 and ends on Monday, Sept. 13, HRSA said. More than 2,400 hospitals are 340B covered entities, with the vast majority critical access or disproportionate share (DSH) hospitals.
The webinar for hospitals may be accessed directly by a Zoom link without the need to register. Staffers from HRSA’s Office of Pharmacy Affairs will be making the presentation.
HRSA conducted recertification for all other covered entities earlier this year. Health centers, Ryan White, Indian Health Service, and other HRSA grantees were recertified in the first quarter of 2021. Title X and STD/TB grantees were recertified during the second quarter.
HRSA has made a few minor tweaks to the 2021 registration process, which is performed on the 340B Office of Pharmacy Affairs Information System (340B OPAIS). Covered entities with the same authorizing official, Medicaid provider number, or entity type are now permitted to make similar changes for multiple 340B identifications in a single submission. Primary contacts are also allowed to submit comments with any submission, whether a recertification, registration, or termination request.
Additionally, in 340B OPAIS’s pricing component, new drug ceiling price estimates will be accompanied by a special graphic flag.
