The second quarterly period this year for 340B registration of new covered entities, outpatient facilities, and contract pharmacies will begin Saturday, April 1, and is expected to end on Monday, April 17.
Normally, a quarterly 340B registration period runs from the first through the 15th day of the January, April, July, and October. Registration is effective the first day of the following quarter. If the 15th falls on a Saturday, Sunday, or federal holiday, the final day of registration is the next business day. April 15 this year falls on a Saturday.
During the COVID-19 national public health emergency, the U.S. Health Resources and Services Administration has let some entities, upon request and review, enroll in the 340B program immediately. The Department of Health and Human Services has said it plans for the emergency to expire at the end of the day on May 11.
HRSA has not yet said what will happen with its 340B enrollment flexibility policy and all other COVID-19 related 340B program flexibilities when the public health emergency ends.
U.S. Public Health Service Lt. Cmdr. Emeka Egwim, director of HRSA’s Office of Pharmacy Affairs, could shed light on the flexibilities when he speaks next week at the 340B Coalition annual winter conference in San Diego.
