Q: If a friend came to visit you in your hometown, where would you take them? Where would you take them in your state?
Well, I’ve moved from my hometown, but I would certainly take them to the amazing train station in Wheaton, Illinois. There is a tiny candy store located in between two buildings! However, now I am in Reedsburg and would take a friend up north to see the waterfalls near Ashworth, WI. Absolutely stunning natural scenery up there!
Q: Tell us about your health care facility.
Reedsburg Area Medical Center (RAMC) is a 25-bed critical access hospital (CAH) that serves more than 23,000 people in the 15-mile radius of Reedsburg and the small surrounding communities such as La Valle, Lime Ridge, Lyndon Station, and Loganville. RAMC’s mission is to go beyond the expected. We take this mission seriously by working with our medical staff, consisting of many qualified active and consulting physicians to provide comprehensive care to the most vulnerable patients.
Q: What are some concrete examples of how your facility has benefited from the 340B program?
The 340B program savings allow RAMC to operate a medication assistance program which provides qualifying patients with select high-cost medications at no charge.
Q: Tell us what makes you most proud of your work and your organization.
I work directly with the patient assistance program and love being able to help people afford lifesaving medications.
Q: How has your facility benefited from the services of your 340B vendors/contractors?
We work closely with our third-party administrator to maintain 340B program compliance. They help us sort out accumulations and provide us examples for a comprehensive self-audit tool, as well as helping us with our patient assistance program too! I think the folks there are so very kind and helpful!
Q: What advice do you have for 340B covered entities or staff that are new to the program?
Just jump in and absorb as much as you can; try something different!
