Ryan White Clinics for 340B Access (RWC-340B) and its management services consultant have chosen Trent Smith, a former manager and director in both the nonprofit and for-profit sectors, to be RWC-340B’s new managing director.
RWC-340B announced the hiring last week. Smith will be responsible for RWC-340B’s day-to-day operations. He also will be its new chief spokesperson.
In January RWC-340B contracted with United Partners for Human Services (UPHS), a Florida-based nonprofit organization, to provide management services. UPHS represents more than 170 human services providers, associations, and businesses mainly in Florida. It offers paid services on matters including advocacy, board and leadership training, diversity, fundraising, fiscal management, grants and contract management, human resources, communications, and information technology.
Smith will report to UPHS Executive Director Amber Tynan. Smith previously has worked for two national student housing leasing companies, at the Southern Scholarship Foundation, and at Hugh O’Brien Youth, a volunteer-based youth leadership organization.
Founded in 2013, RWC-340B’s membership and influence are growing. It now has nearly 60 Ryan White clinic members, and it has become a force in 340B legislative, regulatory, and legal affairs at the federal and state levels.
