U.S. Rep. Matt Rosendale (R-Mont.) has introduced legislation reportedly the same as he filed during the last session of Congress to impose conditions on hospital participation in the 340B program. More bills dealing with 340B are likely.
H.R. 198 reportedly is identical to H.R. 5463 that Rosendale sponsored in September 2021. The text of the new bill has not yet been released. Rosendale’s office did not respond to a request for comment about the bill. We will report more about H.R. 198 when its details are known.
Among other elements, the bill filed last session would have imposed a two-year moratorium on non-rural disproportionate share (DSH) hospital and child site registration in the 340B program.
Rosendale last session was not a member of the House Energy & Commerce Committee with jurisdiction over 340B, which lowered his bill’s odds of success. He was not among the nine new Republican committee members announced yesterday. (See related story.)
